13 Quotes to Inspire Writers

Inspiration

“Believe in yourself and in your own voice, because there will be times in this business when you will be the only one who does. Take heart from the knowledge that an author with a strong voice will often have trouble at the start of his or her career because strong, distinctive voices sometimes make editors nervous. But in the end, only the strong survive.”– Jayne Ann Krentz

“This is for writers yet to be published who think the uphill climb will never end. Keep believing. This is also for published writers grown jaded by the process. Remember how lucky you are.” – Terry Brooks

“It’s never too late–in fiction or in life–to revise.” – Nancy Thayer

“You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.” – Jack London

“Art isn’t only a painting. Art is anything that’s creative, passionate, and personal. And great art resonates with the viewer, not only with the creator.” – Seth Godin

“It’s none of their business that you have to learn to write. Let them think you were born that way.” -Ernest Hemingway

“It is perfectly okay to write garbage—as long as you edit brilliantly.” – C. J. Cherryh

“You don’t find time to write. You make time. It’s my job.” – Nora Roberts

“Don’t compromise yourself. You are all you’ve got.” – Betty Ford

“The expert at anything was once a beginner.” – Hayes

“You get ideas from daydreaming. You get ideas from being bored. You get ideas all the time. The only difference between writers and other people is we notice when we’re doing it.” Neil Gaiman

“Write your first draft with your heart. Rewrite with your head.” – Mike Rich

“Write what you know. Write what you want to know more about. Write what you’re afraid to write about.” – Cec Murphy

Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number

Older People being young

Can you guess who I loved growing up? Yes Aaliyah! And not just because the girl had style, but because she taught me a valuable lesson. Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number.

This isn’t about social media or writing tips, but this is pure inspiration(I hope)! While attempting to brand myself as a Freelance Writer and Social Media Manager, my insecurities with my age has been a big issue. I even struggled with whether to place my picture on the website or brochure. For the record, I’m much older than I look! Fast forward past my insecurities to today and I realize that age is similar to time. Just because it’s 3am doesn’t mean you can’t eat, workout, write or watch TV. Age really isn’t a factor when it comes to living out your dreams. Don’t believe me? Here are some faces from the under 30 crowd defying age. Click on the pictures to learn more about them and their business.

If anyone ever tells you you’re too young to accomplish a goal slap them upside the head or just remember the above examples.

P.S. I think remembering the above examples would be much better than an assault charge.
